Matichya Chuli centers on a traditional Maharashtrian household and has been shot in Pune. It is based on the age-old premise of the mother-in-law/daughter-in-law tussles; it is a series of happenings in a family that each one of us can identify with. It says a lot without hard selling or aggressiveness...as you laugh, you realise your eyes have moistened because of a very subtle message and simple everyday emotions.

Matichya Chuli seeks to unfold the nitty gritties of different relationships, whether it is between the father and son or the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law.

Matichya Chuli talks about a family where the parent's dream of getting their only son married to a girl of their choice, but the son ends up tying the knot with someone else. The movie seeks to exdore different relationships, whether it is between the father and son or the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law. It is a lighthearted movie, with the theme being treated in a different way.

The biggest challenge for Manjrekar came in the form of the sudden demise of Sudhir Joshi, whose role was then taken over by Anand Abhyankar, but the transition and replacement of artist has been handled very well without any hype or pretensions.
